Mid Carolina Cardiology is one of the largest cardiovascular groups in the Carolinas, extending it's service throughout the Piedmont area. The history of Mid Carolina Cardiology is really the history of cardiology in the Mecklenburg area. Dr. George Irons, was the first board certified Cardiologist in the Charlotte area, and was a founding member of the group that would become Mid Carolina Cardiology. In 1988, a group of physicians formed Mecklenburg Cardiovascular Consultants, which merged with Cardiology Consultants of the Carolinas in 1994 to form Mid Carolina Cardiology.
